Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS), Almora was established by Professor Boshi Sen in 1924  is a multi crop, multi-disciplinary Research Institute for north-western hill region. This is a pioneer Institute to cater to the agricultural research needs.

VPKAS invites applications for the following positions on contractual basis under the following projects on the basis of walk-in-interview :

1. DBT funded project “Rapid conversion of normal maize inbreds to quality protein maize and further enhancement of limiting amino acids in elite inbreds through marker assisted selection”
Research Associates
Posts: 2
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 40 years as on 10.05.2010.
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs.16000/- p.m for M.Sc Degree holders and  Rs.17000 p.m for Ph.d holders.
Qualification: Candidates should be M.Sc/MSc (Ag.) in Biotechnology/ Plant Breeding.
Experience: Candidates should have experience in molecular biology techniques used in gene mapping, MAS transformation and cloning.
2. NAIP on “Enhancement of Livelihood Security through sustainable Farming Systems and Related Farm Enterprises in North-West Himalaya”.
Research Associates
Posts: 1
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 40 years as on 10.05.2010
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs.17000/- p.m for M.Sc Degree holders and  Rs.18000 p.m for Ph.d holders.
Qualification: Candidates should be M.Sc Agriculture in Agronomy/Horticulture/Social Science/Vegetable Science/Soil Conservation/ Farm Machinery etc.
Experience: Candidates should have experience of research and development in hill region.
3. ICAR funded project “Institute Technology Management Unit”
Research Associates
Posts: 1
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 40 years as on 10.05.2010
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs.16000/- p.m for M.Sc Degree holders and 
Rs.17000 p.m for Ph.d holders.
Qualification: Candidates should have Master Degree in Agriculture/Botany or allied Subjects/MBA
Experience: Candidates should have two years experience in the relevant field.
4. NAIP funded project “Bio prospecting of genes and allele mining for a biotic stress tolerance (Rice & Maize)”
Senior Research Fellow
Posts: 1
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 35 years as on 10.05.2010
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs. 12000/- p.m.
Qualification: Candidates should be M.Sc./MSc in (Ag.) in Biotechnology/Plant Breeding.
Experience: Candidates should have a experience in molecular biology techniques used in allele mining, transformation and cloning.
5. DBT funded project “Pyramiding multiple resistance genes using MAS for durable resistance against blast in the North West Himalayas”
Junior Research Fellow
Posts: 2
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 35 years as on 10.05.2010
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs. 12000/- p.m.
Qualification: Candidates should be M.Sc./MSc in (Ag.) in Biotechnology/Plant Breeding.
Experience: Candidates should have experience in molecular biology techniques used in gene mapping, MAS, transformation and cloning.
