The Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute ( CSMCRI ) was formed on 10th April 1954. It was formerly known as The Central Salt Research Institute and was inaugurated by Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the First Prime Minister of India. It  is a National laboratory under CSIR. Today CSMCRI has 350 staff on its roll and a valuable number of project assistants and research fellows pursing their doctoral programme. It has many departments out of which Salt and Marine Chemical Department is the parent discipline of the institute. The main aim of the institute is to generate the knowledge and innovations required for efficient utilization of coastal wasteland, sea water, marine algae, solar power and silicates.

Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute invites applications for the following scientists posts and the details are as follows:

1. Scientists Group IV ( 5 ) ( Group Leader, Membrane and Specialty Polymer )
   No. of posts: 1
   Age limit: Candidate should not be more than 50 years of age.
   Pay scale: PB-4 Rs.37400-67000/- with GP of Rs.8900/-
   Qualifications: Candidate should have Ph.D degree in Polymer/Membrane Science and it is essential for the candidate to provide evidence of independent research publications and technology development based on fundamental principles.
   Experience: At least 10 years of additional research experience in polymer materials, of which at least 5 years must be in a leadership role.
2. Scientific Group IV ( 3 ) ( Environmental Microbiologists )
   Age limit: Candidate should not be more than 40 years of age.
   Pay scale:PB-3 Rs.15600-39100/- with GP of Rs.7600/-
   Qualifications: Candidate should have Ph.D degree in Environmental Microbiology and Masters degree in Marine Biology is desirable.
   Experience: At least 4 years of additional research experience.
3. Scientific Group IV ( 3 ) ( Organic Chemists)
   Age limit: Candidate should not be more than 40 years of age.
   Pay scale:PB-3 Rs.15600-39100/- with GP of Rs.7600/-
   Qualifications: Candidate should have Ph.D degree Organic/Natural Product Chemistry.
   Experience: At least 4 years research experience in organic synthesis and/or isolation and characterization of bioactive substances from plant/animal sources and/or synthesis of analogue.
4. Scientists Group IV ( 2 )
   No. of posts: 8
   Category: Plant molecular Biologists, Inorganic Chemists, Polymer Chemists, Organic Chemists, Scientists-Separation science, Scientists-Material Science, Scientists-Intellectual Property rights, Chemical engineer
   Age limit: Candidate should not be more than 35 years of age.
   Pay scale:PB-3 Rs.15600-39100/- with GP of Rs.6600/-
   Qualifications: Candidate should have Ph.D Degree in the relevant area or field related to the category he is applying.
   Experience: At least 1 year of additional research experience.
5. Scientists Group IV ( 1 )
   No. of posts: 2
   Category: Energy Technologists, Information Technologists
   Age limit: Candidate should not be more than 35 years of age.
   Pay scale:PB-3 Rs.15600-39100/- with GP of Rs.5400/-
   Qualifications: Candidate should have M. Tech. in Energy Technology for the category of Energy Technologists and 1st Class B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science with specialization in software development for the category of Information Technologists.
