The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission ( TNPSC ) is headed by the Chairman and comprises of fourteen other members, all appointed by the Governor of Tamil Nadu.The Secretary to the Commission holds responsibility of ensuring implementation of its’ various decisions, besides handling day-to-day administration, departmental promotion committees, oral tests for recruitment, etc.. TNPSC make direct recruitments to State, Subordinate and Ministerial services and conduct departmental examinations for Government Servants. It also advice Government on principles to be followed in making appointments and promotions and transfers from    one service to another service.

TNPSC invites applications for Direct Recruitment to the post of Village Administrative Officer ( VAO ) and the details are as following :

1. Village Administrative Officers in Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service
Service Code : 050

2. Village Administrative Officers ( Shortfall vacancies For SC / ST )
 Service Code : 050
No. of vacancies : 1077 posts
Post Code : 2025

Pay scale : Pay Band –1 Rs. 5200 – 20200/- with grade pay of Rs. 2000/- per month.
Age limit : Minimum 21 years and maximum 40 years of age for SC/ SC (Arunthathiyars), STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCM and Destitute Widows of all castes.
Qualification : candidate should have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies (or) to College Courses of studies and should have adequate knowledge of Tamil.

Last date for the receipt of application : 20th August 2010 till 5.45 PM
Cash Security : Selected candidate shall furnish a Cash Security of Rs.2000/- ( Rupees Two thousand only) within a period of one month from the date on which he/she joins duty
Examination fees : Examination fees of Rs. 75/- has to be paid only through any one of the Post offices listed in Annexure – III to the Brochure and the Postal receipt obtained for the payment of fee should be pasted in the space provided in the application.
