Indian Maritime University ( IMU ) came into existence on 14th November 2008 and was established as a Central university. It was notified in the Gazette of India. It plays an important role in the development of required human resource for the maritime sector. It’s headquarter is located in Chennai. IMU has 8 departments , namely-Port Management, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Transport and logistics, Marine Sciences, Maritime Law, Naval Architecture and Ship Building And Inland Water Transport.

IMU invites applications for the post of faculties and the details are as follows:

* 40 posts are for :
1. Professors
2. Assistant Professors
3. Associate Professors

And for the following Subjects:

• Nautical Science
  Area of Specialisation: nautical Science, Maritime Science, maritime Affairs, maritime Safety
• Maritime Engineering
  Area of Specialisation: Maritime Education and Training, Maritime Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Coastal Engineering
• Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
  Area of Specialisation: Coastal/Harbour Engineering, Structural Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ship Repair and Ship Building,
• Management
  Area of Specialisation: Port and Shipping Management, Quantitative Techniques, International Transportation and Logistics, International Trade, Marketing, Economics, human Resource Management.
