Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune was founded on 17th November 1962. It is an Autonomous research organization, fully devoted to research in various aspects of climate science. It works as a national centre for basic and applied research in monsoon meteorology and generate scientific knowledge in the field of meteorology and atmospheric sciences that has potential application in various fields such as agriculture, economics, health, water resources, transportation, communications. It also collaborate with other similar research institutions, in the development and application of climate study.

Applications are invited by IITM Pune for the following posts of research Scientists :

1. Scientists ‘E’
   No. of posts : 3
   Pay scale : Rs. 37400-67000/- with GP of Rs. 8700/- plus other allowances.
   Age limit : Maximum 50 years
   Qualifications : Candidate should have a doctorate degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics from a recognized university.
   Experience : At least 8 years of experience of research work and high capacity for guiding and coordinating research in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.
2. Scientists ‘D’
   No. of posts : 7
   Pay scale : Rs. 15600-39100/- with GP of Rs. 7600/- plus other allowances
   Age limit : Maximum 45 years
   Qualification : Candidate should a doctorate degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics with expertise in any of the research areas.
   Experience : At least 6 years of experience of research (2 years should be after Ph.D. in Atmospheric and / or Oceanic Sciences (as evidenced by published papers).
3. Scientists ‘C’
   No. of posts : 8
   Pay scale : Rs. 15600-39100/- with GP of Rs. 6600/- plus other allowances
   Age limit : Maximum 40 years
   Qualification : Candidate should have Master’s Degree preferably a Doctorate in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Electronics, OR B.E. / B.Tech ./ M.Tech. (Electronics / Electrical Engineering) degree.
   Experience : At least 5 years of of research in Atmospheric and/or Oceanic Sciences related to weather and climate.
4. Scientists ‘B’
   No. of posts : 2
   Pay scale : Rs. 15600-39100/- with GP of Rs. 5400/- plus other allowances
   Age limit : Maximum 35 years
   Qualification : Candidate should have

Master’s Degree preferably a Doctorate in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Electronics, OR B.E. / B.Tech ./ M.Tech. (Electronics / Electrical Engineering) degree.
Experience : At least 3 years of of research in Atmospheric and/or Oceanic Sciences related to weather and climate.
