IIA Indian Institute of Astrophysics Vacancy 2010


The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics. It traces its origins back to an observatory set up in 1786 at Madras. In 1899, the observatory moved to kodaikanal. The Kodaikanal Observatory has for over a century been the principal centre of activity in observational solar and atmospheric physics. The Institute has field stations at Kavalur & Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, Gauribidanur & Hoskote in Karnataka, and Leh & Hanle in J & K. The Institute is spearheading a project to build a modern and large Solar Telescope in India at a suitable location.

Scientist – B
Posts: 1
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs.15600-39100
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 30 years.
Place of Posting : Bangalore
Qualification : Candidates should have a Degree in M.Sc in Physics from a recognized University with at least 60% marks.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of research experience as Research Trainee or JRF in one of the leading national labs in Physics and should have a working knowledge of computer programming for data analysis for Unix platform.
Engineer – B
Posts: 1
Remuneration: Candidates will get remuneration of Rs.15600-39100
Age limit: Candidates should not be more than 30 years.
Place of Posting : Bangalore
Qualification: Candidates should have a MCA/M.Tech/M.Sc degree. First Class in Computer Science / Information Technology.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience as Engineer Trainee or Technical/ Engineer Associate in a national lab in photonics related instruments and should have a working knowledge of Lab View, IDL & MAT Lab for development of Date interface & acquisition.
 
Note: The above appointment is purely temporary exclusively for National Large Telescope Project and tenure of appointment will be initially for a period of 2  years which includes a probationary period of one year and extendable for one more year only, depending upon the satisfactory performance during first 02 years.
